S3 E19 Unspeakable Truths and Transforming Conversations - with Shelli Jost Brady

Human beings are masterful story tellers and meaning making machines. We are that we make meaning and we do it instantaneously and for the most part unconsciously.

Then we live inside our stories, thinking they are truth and fact, when, in reality we made them up. Life happens and we make up what it means.

My guest this week is Shelli Jost Brady, a graduate of Virginia Tech, who holds multiple advanced degrees and certifications in design, architecture, business, leadership trauma and peace education.

Born on a farm in South Dakota, daughter of a father in the military, Shelli’s nomadic youth instilled the importance of finding affinity in disparate groups to create comfort in ever changing and dangerous environments.

She has created curriculums in human rights, conflict transformation, relationship and reconciliation for organizations and communities at large.

Join us for this deep and engaging conversation about:

  • How do we be in communication when there is disagreement?

  • How do we create environments that are safe for people to be empowered to tell the truth?

  • What is an authentic apology?

  • What is to be Selfish vs Selffull

  • How do we restore communication when we’ve harmed someone?

  • Where and how do we begin this process?
